Recording available: Reframing the fundamentals of risk management for humanitarians

On Thursday 21 November, ICVA and PHAP organized the first webinar in a series aimed at exploring the current state of risk management in the humanitarian sector. This webinar provided an introduction to the concept of risk management and an overview of the particular challenges to apply this in humanitarian work. This webinar was part of the “Navigating Change” Learning Stream, which included webinars, briefing papers, and other resources on how NGOs are managing changing global, regional, and national contexts for humanitarian response.

The event featured Jeremy Rempel, Head of Humanitarian Financing at ICVA, who provided an overview of the current issues driving the discussion on risk and risk management in the sector while offering solutions to the challenges faced. Patroba Otieno, Risk and Financial Specialist at World Vision Somalia, briefed participants on the concept of enterprise-wide risk management (ERM), ERM use in his work, and demystified the misconceptions of ERM in humanitarian work.

If you missed the event, video recordings and an audio podcast version of the event are now available on the event page.
