Online training: Introduction to Protection and Safeguarding in Logistics

This online training session offered to PHAP members will provide an introduction to protection and safeguarding in humanitarian logistics.

This course aims to provide participants with an understanding of the criticality of building safeguarding and protection into logistical programming. We will look at what practical steps organizations should consider when implementing measures. Integrating protection into logistical operations is about good programming. This brief session will provide you with concrete takeaways for how to protect and safeguard those we encounter in the logistics function.

Learning objectives of session

This brief session has the following learning objectives:

  • Understanding: To introduce participants to the Protection Principles within Logistics and expand their understanding of a humanitarian logistics response from a Protection perspective.
  • Critical Thinking: To review some recent events (COVID-19) and the Protection implications of decisions made during this Logistics response
  • Capacity Building: To build the capacity of the attendees in order to generate greater awareness of strengthening Protection principles into Logistics operations 
  • Planning: Plan effective Logistics processes which take into account the challenges of embedding the Protection principles. 
  • Procedures: Identify the key procedures required to establish effective logistics services
